No clue on when it will be released but absolutely a new version of Final Cut Pro will come out some time in the future.

March 28, 2009 at 12:36 amIf they haven’t announced anything by or around NAB, then they’ll probably wait for a while. How long? I don’t know. Maybe until WWDC. And if they don’t announce at WWDC, then they’ll probably wait until August or September. And if they don’t announce then, then probably January around MacWorld time. And if they still don’t have anything, I’d go with NAB 2010. If you still haven’t upgraded by then, you’ll be so tired of waiting for the next version that you’ll buy FCS2 then. After that, they’ll come out with FCS3:)
It could be announced soon though, but I think it could be likely that it will require the new QuickTime that’s in Snow Leopard. So it might not ship until Snow Leopard is out, even if it is announced soon.
Have fun.

Nope, it’s going to require the new FunkyTime from Peter Wiggins which will be released as part of Tabby Cat in 2010.

As Apple is famously secretive, that’s the only thing you can do. We had a bunch of “valid rumors” a few weeks ago that Apple was going to announce something on March 25 or something like that. Yep, nothing came out.
My guess is NAB will be some sort of announcement.

Yep, and the very first post will be “I’m still running a G4, will I be able to do multi-format, 40 tracks of video in realtime and do a realtime chroma key like they show in the Final Cut Pro 7 demo?”
Or
“Is my Mac Mini fast enough to do all those new morphing effects in realtime?”
Or
“I just bought an iMac and I’m shocked I will not be able to do the new 3D rotoscoping in realtime. Why does Apple always screw me?”
