  New Versions of Media Composer Released Today

  This from Avid’s Marianna today on the Avid L-2:

  Today we released a new version of the editor – Avid Media Composer v3.1.2 (Mac and PC) and this is now available on both the http://www.avid.com Additional Software Updates section AND the Download Center ( for those that have an account).

  Please note that the MC 3.1.2 release is available for systems already running Avid Media Composer v3.x and higher. A dongle update is NOT required.

  The new editor includes the following:

  1) Mac OS X 10.4.11 (Tiger) now supported Version 3.1.2 of Avid Media Composer for Mac OS X is now fully qualified and supported on Apple Mac OS X 10.4.11 (Tiger). Avid customers on Mac OS X 10.4.11 may now upgrade to the latest version of Avid Media Composer v3.1.2.

  2) Pro Tools Video Satellite now supported Version 3.1.2 of Avid Media Composer, Avid Media Composer Mojo DX, and Avid Media Composer Nitris DX enables the Video Satellite feature of Pro Tools HD v8, previously announced. This feature is supported on Windows XP and Vista only. Please visit http://www.avid.com or http://www.digidesign.com for information on Pro Tools and Video Satellite.

  Important Notes:

  – The Video Satellite feature requires Avid Media Composer v3.1.2 or later and Pro Tools HD v8cs1 or later.

  – Interplay customers that are currently running MC v3.1.1 and have had a MC v3.1.1.1 patch installed by Avid Professional Services Group (PSG) which resolves an issue where master clips might lose audio track references, should NOT install MC v3.1.2 unless they require Video Satellite or Tiger support. Please consult your PSG professional prior to upgrading to MC v3.1.2.

  There are several notes listed on both the http://www.avid.com Additional Software Updates section and the Download Center so customers should read the web page before download and read the ReadMe file before installing.
