As a non-pro (high end amateur) who is new to video editing, a few of you have convinced me to still start with Final Cut Pro.
I now need to decide between that package alone vs. Final Cut Studio. Because of a university employ special deal one would cost $300 and the other $500.
But right now I just have an iMac G4 and it seems to me that most of the additional programs will be way ahead of the game for me (related to my needs, the learning curve, and the inadequacy of the G5 for this purpose) and that I should save the extra $ towards the purchase of a G5 in a few months.

    I would welcome your advice.

    Thanks.

with only a $200 difference I would go with the full Studio package. You might not be able to use everything right away, but once you get the G5, you’ll be all set. The addition of DVDSP 4 is worth the extra money alone and you’ll be able to use that just fine on your current machine.
