I am transitioning from Color (4yrs) to Resolve (8days) and though I’ve got the basics pretty much figured out, I still seem to missing some things that I had in Color. I’m not looking for exact analogs, but hoping for something close.

In Color I was able to apply one correction to multiple shots, both from the timeline and the many Grade stores… Is there a way to apply corrections to multiple shots simultaneously? And to make this more efficient, is there a way to display clip names instead of clip TC in the Resolve color “room” (not sure if that is app accurate), or is the conform “room” the only place to see clip titles next to shot numbers?

My main concern here is that a lot of what I was able to do in Color to be fast, is not an option in Resolve… So if anyone knows how to do the above, or has suggestions on speeding things up in Resolve I’m open to suggestions.

Those issues aside, I am continually amazed at how powerful Resolve is. Going from a 2:1 render time to 0.8:1 render time is pretty amazing. Not to mention how the Nodes/Secondaries work… I am, like I said amazed and impressed. I just need to be faster.

Yep, we all want a better shot grouping.
If you do it before grading, its easy, if they have different light and all, its tricky.
The best is of course if you conform from camera reels and all the shots are linked and go back to the same media.
That is helping me a lot right now on a TV series shot on Alexa.
And “yes” on the renaming, or “show nr/name” in the conform tab.
I cant even navigate if my client says, lets go to shot 382. Only in the Color tab

    Welcome to the club!

If two or more clips share the original source file, the grade will normally apply to both. If not, you can select the shots and group them together.

I’m not sure about the ‘shot names in thumbnails’ question. I haven’t really missed it so I haven’t thought about it.

I’m not sure what you mean by grouping… at least in Resolve. Or how you would do it, time for a manual adventure…

Also, the workflow/network/timeframe of the show I’m on only allows EDL Preconform, so I’m not sure if I’m even able to regroup. By that I mean I have tried switching my timeline from “A” mode to “C” mode, but to no avail…
