I’ve never done any kind of special effect, or visual effect on any project. My movies have always been basic, like the old days in cinema. Cut two pieces and splice them together.

I just shot a short, and there’s a huge clock on the wall that is in some of the shots. I CAN edit it without really showing the clock. But, it’d be all around better if there’s a few shots with the clock. The wider shots. However, the time is definitely off.

Using fusion would it be hard to change the hands on the clock to read a different time?

Note: There might be point where an actor crosses in front of it. Would that make a difference?

    Thank You

The photo is the clock. For the most part, it’s crystal clear with no shadows.

    Hi,

I don’t know how to do it in Fusion but as you need a still shot of the clock, you can export a frame, change the hands in Photoshop, and import it into your timeline. For the actor crossing you have to mask it. To be honest I don’t know Fusion’s capabilities for that but you may export that section and do it in After Effects.

Thank You! I just needed to know it’s possible and not insanely hard. What you described, I’ve kind of done.

    Thanks again.

What Devrim says, and yes, Fusion has FANTASTIC masking capabilities!

That is a BFC. I hope it gets a credit.

Can be done. Lots to consider.

    How many VFX shots?

    Locked camera?

Any natural lighting (concerned about the shadows and also matching clock to time of day)?

Any takes long enough to notice the movement of the minutes hand?

It sounds like you’re just exploring your options. Maybe just plan your edit to minimize its presence and save yourself the trouble.
