New Sony Vegas HD studio Platinum 10 uses GPU acceleration
The new updated Sony Vegas HD studio Platinum 10 uses GPU for some rendering. Listed in the tech. spec.:
New! Support for GPU-accelerated AVC rendering using the Sony AVC plug-in.
Most likely Vegas Pro will have this feature as well. Unfortunately the graphic card on my stat. computer is not that powerfull to take advantage of the GPU features.
What benefits do you guys think this new feature has for rendering times? -

I’ll answer this just with my experience and little knowledge.
I think it applies on both nVidia CUDA & ATi Stream.
With my experience with nVidia (GTX260) (Badaboom Video Converter), it converts faster than ordinary conversion done by CPU, about 40% without losing video quality.
As for Vegas, maybe if you render a video (depending on the plug-ins you applied) through GPU, it might cut rendering times a bit (from 1hr down to 35-50mins)

Unfortunately, this new capability appears to be only for CUDA technology:

I already have an ATI card that I like and don’t want to get rid of – if the slots are available, can I install an Nvidia card and just use it for encoding?
