    My guess is that you’d have the choice of either rewrapping to h264, or optimizing to ProRes SQ (not HQ).

    I like to optimize h264 material, but you don’t have to.

    I have also never worked with that camera before so you’d have to test it out and weigh the pros and cons of transcoding vs rewrap.

    The XAVC S video included in FDR-AX1 is not compatible with Final Cut Pro. Apple does not respond on these forums and no one here knows or can say when, if ever, XVAC-S will be natively supported by FCP X. So, is there any workaround to resolve the issue? Well, you just need to convert Sony FDR-AX1 videos to FCP most compatible Apple ProRes codec for native importing and editing.
