Sony has introduced a new DSLR into the market- the Alpha SLT-A35. Know I’m not a Sony DSLR guy, but the great thing about this puppy is that it’s smaller than an SLR, yet compatible with SLR lenses.

For those who are curious, the A35 does HD video. 1080p at 60i and 30p (h.264, 17 Mbps, AVCHD). However NO 24 fps! I can’t believe that they didn’t include something that is now so standard! Maybe they don’t want to cannibalize their own market share, or maybe they just don’t have a pulse on what consumers want. Who knows.

For those who can stand 60i, the good news is that it will have AF in video mode, something that Canon should start to implement in their DSLR’s!

    Agreed…

“…the good news is that it will have AF in video mode, something that Canon should start to implement in their DSLR’s!”

“AF” (Auto Focus) has NO PLACE in video production. Auto anything really has NO value, but AutoFocus is the last thing that these cameras need.

Well not continuous anyway- sometimes instant auto focus can save your tail when you don’t have a good monitor to confirm focus. But never, ever left on.

Ok, yes, I agree. I do find myself using this at times, I have to admit. Pretty handy actually.
My comment was more aimed at full auto focus all the time while recording. This I would not want.
