New small studio sharing storage advice ?
I”m starting a new business, our studio have two editing suite, one davinci, one protools mixing suite and some vfx workstation ( 3 to 5 ).
I’m searching for a shared storage and i m very new to this. I ve looked at promax, sns, smalltree, editshare, read countless forum posts etc… but still can’t tell if i’m in the right way or should i consider building (with an IT guy, a less expensive 10 gbe NAS from something like a Promise R2 raid and server box ).
Storage need is around 32TB; speed, must be able to stream to the editing suites DNxHD 185 ( HD ), and 10gbe speed will suffice for the other workstations ( the davinci will read from a das ). Easy way to connect a LTO backup device is a a plus. Expendability is a plus too.Budget is around 15 000 dollars, 10 000 euros.

Why start from scratch with an IT guy who doesn’t know the requirements of streaming video?
Our Platform Studio is certainly within your budget parameters, and it can accommodate a built-in LTO tape drive as well.
