New Problems have arisen

OK. Now explain carefully (and totally sorry to make you do this again) but what happens when you hit reconnect?

ANd you said you play those movies in quicktime and it says it’s not a movie, right? That means your media has gone missing. Can you recapture?

Okay, when I go to reconnect it brings up the reconnect media screen. At top of that are two buttons: one for offline media the other for online media. Both of those buttons are activated and a list appears of all of the Online and Offline media. There are about 5 files online. When I click the online media to off, the only thing that appears is the offline media files, which only list L-2DRIVE which is the name I have given for my external hard drive. I hit, locate and all files are unable to be clicked on, this includes the ones that are listed as online. Then, when I open the capture scratch folder to look at the files directly some of the both online and offline files will open when clicked on while other will give me the error message, Error problem opening movie: This movie could not be opened. Now I went through and tried to right click on some of the files in the media viewer to reconnect them that way and it seemed to work, at one point. One odd thing about all of this is that when I scroll through my timeline with the error keys the offline media still plays. It’s complected I know, and I wish I had a better way to explain it. I could recapture but I’m scared I would have to start the whole project over and I have been working on it for 5 months. Thanks again,

Sorry I haven’t responded, Chris. It’s been crazy around here. 3 of the four nights this week have been all nighters. Nutso.

That’s not good. That smells like corruption to me.

Do those clips have filters on them and are rendered? If they are rendered, they are playing back the render file and not the orig media file. Make sense?

As long as you captured all of your clips with timecode and not a ‘capture now’ with a non controllable device, you can recapture. It might solve your problem. Try it on one of your clips that won’t open in the finder.
