Does anyone know if the new Matrox Axio 1.5 release supports the editing of DVCPRO HD material shot on P2 cards (such as the HVX200)? I know they support DVCPRO HD now, but is this just via an analog HD-SDI capture out of a DVCPRO HD deck? Any info would be appreciated…

No native support. . .yet…it is being worked on.
For now you would have to transfer the files via firewire in order to use them on Axio.

    Larry,

Do you have any idea whether this will be a quick fix or a full blown fix? By that I mean, will Axio be able to work with the MXF files natively like Canopus Edius, or will it like Apple and Avid have a utility that strips the DVCPro (50 & HD) files from the MXF wrapper for native editing with these files? The difference for those who don’t know is that the MXF files can contain extensive metadata such as shooter, project, date of aquisition, who for, etc. Avid can take these metadata files into it’s own database. I don’t know about FCP. But with true MXF native editing, the metadata stays through the edit and will be contained even in the segments of the edited master, so at some point in the future you can check the edited master for the sources of some or all of its clips. Pretty neat, that!
