new mac pro won’t let me have timeline window across two monitors
hello all.
i recently bought a refurb quad proc. 2.6 mac pro, installed 2 maxtor 500g drives in the internal bays, raid 0, and 2g of ram from crucial, and 2 samsung syncmaster 22 monitors connected via the 2 dvi ports on the nvidia geforce 7300 gt card that came with the machine.after installing fcstudio, i realized it wouldn’t do one of my favorite things that i did with my prev. g5 and 2 apple (adc) studio displays: lay the timeline across the bottom of both screens, so that i can look at a bigger show with more detail than having the timeline run across only 1 screen.
of course, i opened the system preferences, displays, and also the window, arrange command in fcp itself, neither would let me do what i want.
what i’m i missing?
is this not possible with non apple displays? not possible on this graphics card? any other ideas?thanks in advance!

What do you mean it “won’t” let you? Are you trying to drag the timeline from the right monitor to the left monitor and it just stops? I’ve got a 20″ acer and a 20″ Cinema running on a quad 2.0 mac pro and it could care less where I put any of the FCP windows and/or what size I make them.
I simply picked up the timeline and moved it from my right monitor to my left, then dragged out the bottom right corner to make it go across both monitors. No magic. Can you not do that? What happens?

and a bit hard to describe…
esentially, i can drag the timeline so that it crosses the monitor junction (the middle line between the 2 montiors), but then, when i click on the lower right hand corner triangle to expand the timeline window, it automatically shrinks, and moves to either the left or right monitor, whichever more of the timeline window is in before i clicked on the lower right corner.if i leave the timeline window in the left monitor, and the try to click on that lower right corner to expand it, i can only shrink it, and not expand it on the right monitor.
it clearly does NOT want to be on both monitors at the same time.
its weird.
any ideas?
should i try calling apple support yathink?THANKS for your help.
