A few weeks ago I posted about the limitations I was feeling with my new iMac i7. Since I had the opportunity to return it and get a Pro, I did. Thanks for all of your comments and good advice on that. So, now I have the new Mac Pro. 8 Core with 16GB RAM 27″ Cinema Display. I got three SATA drives to build RAID and the new NVIDIA Quadro 4000 GPU.

My question is should I build a RAID 5 or RAID 0. I understand that Adobe recommends RAID 0. But, I want to make sure I have some protection. I already have the three internal hardrives, but could use one for back up if going RAID 0. I just don’t know how much slower 5 would be as compared to 0.

    Thanks.

RAID 0 is the fastest, but you need backup just in case.
I’ve been using raid 0 for many years and never lost data yet.

    Ann,
Thanks. My new system has three 1TB hard drives and I have an external iOmega 2TB hard drive. I am wondering what is the best configuration of my three internal and one external drive to get the most our of PrPro and CS5.
