*NEW* KONA LHe for new PCIe PowerMac G5’s!

As you know, yesterday Apple announced new hardware with a radically different bus architecture than in previous PowerMacs, utilizing PCIe slots in place of PCI and PCI-X. AJA has been working very closely with Apple to ensure a smooth transition for customers that will be purchasing these new machines.
We are pleased to announce a new PCIe-based product that has the same configuration and format support as our new KONA LH card, but offers a superfast PCIe bus architecture. You can now have the best in SD/HD analog and digital on the G5 you want!

*Introducing KONA LHe*
The KONA LHe is a 4-lane PCIe board to support the new Apple hardware, and is specifically designed for the new G5 PowerMac line that has just been announced. These new KONA’s are shipping to resellers worldwide beginning October 31 (under two weeks!), and have the same list price (MSRP) as the current KONA LH, $1790 US.
The KLBOX is the same as the existing breakout box for the KONA LH, as are all the breakout cables. All audio and video connections are the same on the two cards. The new KONA LHe card also uses the same KONA LH driver software, with no “LHe-only” version needed to support it.
In essence, it is exactly the same as the LH, just with a PCIe connection…need the best SD/HD card for the new PCIe G5’s? Order the KONA LHe. Need SD/HD for previous and current generation PCI-X G5’s? Order the KONA LH.
Simply, KONA LHe is not a replacement for any KONA product, but is instead a bus connectivity option to support the new PCIe G5’s. The LHe board however is different, and is not backwards compatible with previous generation PowerMac G5’s…it must be installed in a PCIe G5. Also, PCI and PCI-X KONA’s cannot be installed in the new PCIe G5’s.
AJA is continuing to ship our hugely successful KONA 2, KONA LH, and KONA LS products for the current generation PCI and PCI-X based G5 machines, and will continue to actively support these popular products.
There will be upcoming announcements on how we will be expanding our line of PCIe products. The LHe is the first in a family of PCIe based products that will support various customer needs. On a PCIe G5, you can expect to see significant performance gains in Real Time effects within Final Cut Pro for all supported formats both on Io and the new KONA LHe, as well as better performance with all the design and multimedia applications driving video out via the KONA or Io.

*Io AND THE NEW G5’s*
The Io product line (Io, IoLA, IoLD) is fully compatible with these new PCIe machines, as it connects to the Mac via Firewire 400, and will work with these new G5’s in addition to the existing machines. The Io’s continue to be powerfully unique, and able to seamlessly work with a huge variety of G4’s, G5’s and Powerbooks.
