New Install FCP 6.0.6 – No XDCAM 720P Easy Set Up???
This one is really weird to me so I am posting to a couple support locations in hopes of quick help:
I recently did a fresh install of FCP 6.0.6 on my MacBook Pro running Leopard 10.5.8. I also installed the Sony XDCAM Drivers for using Sony SxS XDCAM Media via Sony EX3.
For some reason when I go to Easy Setup in FCP menu there is no option to begin a project in 720P only the various frame rates for 1080P. What could be causing this and how do I get 720P project options?

I thought that XDCam always shoots 1080 not 720. You could use Prores or DVCProHD for your sequence

No the EX1 & EX3 can shoot in 720P. This is the weirdest thing because on my Mac Pro with the same OSX and FCP I have the option in Easy Set Up to create a project in Sony XDCAM 720P or 1080.
Is there maybe a missing driver or something I could have missed?

Try dragging a shot into a 1080 sequence and see if FCP will change the sequence settings to the correct option.
Even though you can’t see it in Easy Setups, XDCam 720 might be available.

Yeah this works. It prompts me to change the timeline settings to match the source footage settings. I just find it weird that it doesn’t offer 720P as an easy set up…

Hi Kellen,
I have FC Easy Setups in three different folders.
– Applications> FC Easy Setups
– Library> Applications Supports> FC System Support> Custom Settings
– AJA preferences
– Sheers folder.
You may have also Easy Setups in Users~Library>Preferences> Final Cut Users settings.
I have in a coupe of places more;
A mess, don’t you think so?
FC have now a kind of Easy Setups manager.
Open the Easy Setups window (Ctrl-Q) and in Formats check XDCAM HD you may be lucky.
