New iMac for FCPX – How much RAM should I get?
Hi everyone..
I’m going to switch from Sony Vegas on my PC to FCPX on a new iMac soon..
I’m about to order my iMac and just wanted to ask you all how much RAM I should get for use in FCPX (and maybe in general too)
16gig or 32gig??
If I get the 32gig will it be used ot will it be a waste?

I’d buy as much RAM as you can afford. If you’re buying the 21.5″ iMac remember that the RAM is now soldered onto the motherboard. So whatever you buy is what you’re stuck with for the life of your machine. If you buy the 27″ iMac then you still have access to the RAM and can upgrade at a latter date as RAM becomes more affordable.
