Sure?
Because there are plenty Macs that don’t run on anything older than what they shipped with due to e.g. certain hardware drivers such as various flavors of Thunderbolt and the likes… as in this case Thunderbolt 3?

Whether this is one of them I can’t say, since I don’t know why I would even want to downgrade my system, but a call or visit to Apple should bring quick and definitive clarification, no?

Yeah also it’s a challenge to find the old OS. I can definitely confirm once you setup a Mac with the High Sierra beta it’s nearly impossible to downgrade but that is due more to the new file system.

I wonder whether Macs that ship with High Sierra will be APFS formatted… hmmm. But then I’d be very surprised if not.

Would expect that to be the shipping format. It’s only for upgraders that it will be a choice.
