New Guy With Plug-Ins Question
Greets… In the space of a year I have graduated from Movie Edit Pro 11 to Premiere Elements 4 to now Vegas 8. The decision to Go Large was due in part to (and this is not shameless sucking up!) the fact that Douglas Spotted Eagle is well respected in the voiceover and music biz and his endorsement was good enough for me. The other part was the very happy discovery that V8 directly imports my JVC HD-7 camera files without having to mess with CyberLink, which I shall be more than delighted to delete from my system.
I’m curious about one item, however:
When using a video plug-in (in this case brightness/contrast) I really don’t see any difference in the monitor at any setting, even after pre-rendering. The manual seems to imply the effect is instant, but darned if I can figure out what I’m not doing right.

Make sure that you are not bypassing the fx (make sure the check is in the box on the plugin chain for that fx). Are you seeing any other fx applied? Also, check on your preview window that the you are not bypassing the fx there either. It will be one of the icons at the top with a moon looking pic on it.

thanks for the tip, I’ll check that when I start editing this next project. Right now I’m finishing up one using Premiere Elements (APE?) so the transition may be a bit of a challenge.
