New guy needs advice (and maybe a consultant!)
Cat DV seems like a perfect fit for my current project, but I’m not sure it will do everything that I need. My corporate client wants an archive of about 100 interviews (~2hrs each). Everything is ProRes, and they want to…
1) Add tags/keywords for name, age, city, job, etc.
2) Create sub clips of good quotes and add tags/keywords for each topic
3) Pass along all of the above to an ad agency (TBD, so edit software unknown)
4) Export sub clips as WMV files for executive’s to use in PowerPoints
5) WMV files need searchable tags at the file level. They don’t want to run “special software” (like CatDV) to find clips. Here are my questions…
Items 1 & 2: If I want the tags/keywords to transfer to different editing systems which fields should I use?
Item 3: If I don’t know what the agency is going to edit on, is it enough to just provide an export for each system type?
Item 5: Is there a way to automatically export tags/keywords with the encoded WMV files? If not, can I use Automator (or something similar) to look up the tags in CatDV for each clip and apply them to the WMV files? Or is there a better/easier answer using HTML export?
Any help is really appreciated!
