  • New Final Cut Studio install discs

    Hi,

I just purchased the new FCP studio that includes final cut 7. I want to know if I need to install the content discs that came with the box, even though I already installed the content discs from final cut studio 2.

Do the new content discs install old files and add new ones? or do they simply replace old files and add new ones?

    Any help would be great!

    Thanks.

    Pete

I did. Of course we did the proper Clean Install by wiping the hard drive first and starting over with the OS so we have three incredibly stable systems all running FCP 7.

    good morning

bought 9600 PRO GRAPHIC CARD MAC EDITION. i NEED TO BUY 2 DVI CABLES MALE TO MALE TO RUN 2 FLAT PANEL MONITORS. IS THERE A SPECIFIC MODEL NUMBER FOR CABLE, I SEEM TO HAVE BLACK SCREEN WITH THE ONES THAT WERE REFERRED BY A COMPUTER STORE. I HAVE SUFFECIENT RESOLUTION ON MONITIORS BUT POP UP BOX IN FCP STUDIO 6 SAYS MY RESOLUTION IS NOT SUPPORTED. WAS ADVISED TO PURCHASE NEW DVI CABLES SO THAT I CAN CHANGE RESOLUTION SINCE I WAS RUNNING ANALOG CABLES
PRIOR TO INSTALLING FCP STUDIO 2

1- your question is posted as a reply in an existing thread, so likely many viewers on the forum may not see it. Should have been started as a new topic.
2- DONT USE ALL CAPS PLEASE!
    3-What computer model/OS version, etc.?

It sounds like you have not set up your monitors in the “Displays” pane in System Prefs. You should also have a separate ATI Displays Pref Pane to tell the monitor you are sending it DVI and not analog.
Also sounds like you were trying to set video resolution in FCP to that of your monitor, not a video editing codec.
