July 17, 2011 at 9:56 amNavigate to your user home directory in finder.
Then go to Movies / Motion Templates /
Depending on the type of effect, eg . effects, titles, transitions, generators, unzip the effect into the relevant folder.
Cheers,

July 17, 2011 at 10:33 amYikes, Brendan – you’re so quick I can’t keep up. I have however managed to rig a version that has onscreen controls for Ethan’s gaps which seems like a nice interactive way of doing it. Will post shortly.

Thanks! I have the iphone app, but i think this is better.
Now the filter I really want is a film filter that simulates iris ramping when doing speed changes. This would work in conjuction with the retimer and add iris effects to keyframes inbetween speed changes. This was a look I could only ever achieve shooting actual 16mm film and changing the speed while the camera was running.
I know. You’ve been generous. This one probably is not possible.

July 17, 2011 at 10:46 amHi Ethan
Here’s a version of the Panel Filter with onscreen controls for the Gaps and a border.width control.
I’ll be working on making a 4 and 3 panel option from within the same filter selectable via Pop-Up.
I know Brendan has probably already perfected his and made a half dozen other Effects this morning, but the rest of us are only mortal and it’s hard to keep up!

Have you tried using the Build-in/Out function? This would mean that you could control the fade duration and still have the animation work whatever the length of the clip … At least that’s what I’m working on.

July 17, 2011 at 11:12 amYeah I had a build in / out on this. I think it’s one of those type of effects where you have a specific reveal rate in mind.
So by trimming it to whatever length you needed the reveal / hide rate is always the same. Of course unless you uncheck the build in /out etc.
Cheers,
Brendan

You know what, I think I feel the “effect creation” equivalent of writers block coming on…lol

Surely not possible!!!!! But if it is the case then that’s probably a good thing as you might be able to spend the time down the pub!
