So if I select all of the clips on a track and drag onto the canvas to use overwrite with transition, all looks great. However, as I’ve been reading a little on these forums, FCP expands the clips in order to add transitions. Is there a way to make FCP use only the portion of the clip that was original selected and just encroach on the clip with the transition?

It’s hard to describe, but in the Edius world we could add transitions that did not require the clips to have handles or extra footage. The program would just begin or end the dissolve so as to not require additional frames on either side.

Please help as the footage I’m using is a sequence of short shots and when I add trasitions I end up with jump cuts and poor shots creeping into the dissolves.

    Thanks!

    Jeff.
