New FCP 7 and it’s new ProRes Codecs
Posted by Steve Hirsch on July 24, 2009 at 3:20 pmSo the question is: Will the AJA ioHD be able to handle, or use, the new versions of ProRes?

July 25, 2009 at 4:44 pmI believe the codecs are in FCP and the IO just uses them.

In the ioHD, the ProRes and HQ codecs acutally get encoded in hardware in the box itself.
In theory, the ioHD will be able to support all the new flavors of ProRes, but we will have to wait and see what AJA says.

July 28, 2009 at 12:15 amthe whole point of ProRes444 is to have a 12 bit dual link output. You are not going to accomplish this with any AJA product other than the AJA Kona 3. ProRes444 is probably not going to make a Panasonic AJ-HD1400A, or Sony HVW-M2000 look any better (or output any better) just becuase you are using the ProRes444 codec. (same applies to Standard Def Digi Beta or SD-SDI feeds from a DVCam).
