New EX3 user – filming in nightclub tips / settings
Ive done quite a lot of filming in nightclubs / low light music events. First with the ye olde PD150 and z1 (cople times with nx5 too)
I’ve upgraded from z1 to ex3 – mainly for lowlight, actual full hd, and the option of slow mo/timelapse.
With the z1, I had aperture fully open (1.6) and typically with 18db gain – the web encoding process generally softens the grain. shutter speed of 25/1 made the z1 very good in lowlight, but too juddery.
What are the Optimun settings for low light event / music filming using the ex3 ? I’ve had it 2 days, and there are a few new shutter options vs the z1 and full auto seems to get it a bit brighter from my manual settings (is this just extra gain? Seems to be. Upping gain to 18db, which I don’t want – I want excellent lowlight with much less gain than the crummy z1.
I noticed the ex3 has a shutter of 33/1 which isn’t too juddery vs the z1s 25/1 not sure whether to use 33/1 or the normal speed of 50/1 (50/1 on z1 required 18db)
It’s for YouTube only, but want to. Get in the habit of producing stuff that’s technically ok for tv (eventually getting nano flash for 50mbps).
Any advice welcomed!
