New Error Message: “An error occurred while starting playback…
Sorry that this is a double post but I’m in a real jam here with a client who’s less than impressed. Can anyone tell me what this message means: “An error occurred while starting playback – An invalid device was specified”. It came after I tried (unsuccessfully) to capture footage from my Canon HV30 in 24f (all I ended up doing was capturing a series of stills… But that’s an entirely different problem). In total frustration I gave up and went back to the already captured SD footage but when I went to play clips in the trimmer or on the time line I got the above message.

Go into your device preview settings and make sure that whatever device you preview your work on is set up correctly in that window.
