If I may ask just a few questions on my new card. It is an Extreme SD, PCI-x in my G5. I installed the 5.6.2 software as I am on OSX 10.4.8 on the G5 and then ventured on to the 6.1 which seems to be very stable. Should I upgrade to the 6.6.2 if I am going to stay with 10.4.8?

It seemed to take a couple of captures in Final Cut for the card to find the ability to output the audio via XLR but now it works fine however, I can’t hear any audio during scrubbing or previewing in the capture window. I am using FCP 5.0.4. Is that normal or should I be able to monitor the audio?

I am shooting on a Panasonic DVX100B and often shoot in 24P on miniDV. I capture from a Sony DV/DVCAM deck, with deck control via RS422. What is the best scenario for using the Decklink card in this setup? Assuming I shoot 24P……assuming I shoot 29.97.

I used the NTSC 10 Bit preset to capture footage for 29.97 and then tried the 23.98 10 bit preset with the 24P. Both looked great but am I really gaining anything by capturing through this card via component or is the video already compressed to DV and thus I am just capturing the best compressed footage I can possibly get….but still compressed. Will capturing analog, uncompressed get me better keys, better titling etc….if I still transfer from DV tape?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated. I am just getting my feet wet in this again after starting on a Radius system…years and years ago and then shooting DV for quite awhile for the video that I did need.
