  • new card – out of memory?

just installed my new Decklink SP card in the lowest slot (on top of the graphics card), software seemed to install fine, i got a picture on my external monitor, it tested fine with the Decklink (at least, it had machine control of my UVW-1800), but then when i went to open FCP it only got part way there and said, “out of memory”.

i installed the Decklink software on my main system drive (rather than my media drive), so wonder what went wrong here. any ideas?

    thanks…

    buy more ram.

you only have 512 listed in your profile…

grab another 2 gigs if you want final cut to behave well on your machine. i had a similar problem. i couldn;t open sequences or even load clips in the viewer. sometimes it wouldn’t open at all.

i upgraded my G5 to a dual 2.5 with 2.5 gigs of ram and no more problems.

ALSO: if you are using one of the latest generation G5s then it is not actually compatible with the decklink cards… that’s why i upgraded my machine… there is a technote on BMD’s website:

thanks Kai. ya, it looks like RAM is an obvious problem. dealers aren’t always the vault of wisdom that they should be, eh? looks like i’m going shopping tomorrow!

thanks for helping out a bonehead,
