  • New camera…a7ll, GH4, RX10ll or something else?

    Hello

I plan to buy new camera. I’ve been shooting with my gopro until now. I like to have DSLR for play around and learn shooting. Also I have some projects to coming, like music video, products video and some traveling videos. 4k is not must! Which camera you recommend for me? Sony a7ll, sony rx 10ll or panasonic GH4? Or maybe something else with this price? Blackmagic? Any recommendations are welcome.

    Thank you!

If I were to travel. I would take my GH4.
One 128GB SD card + backup.
I would take the charger and two batteries but probably never use the second one.
I also would take my 12-35 and 35-100 lens.
I could get by with a miniature TriPod and shoot for 3 hours unattended
because the AF and Auto ISO are good enough.
All this would fit in my smallest bag.

If I were to shoot in the dark or poor/low light, I would use my Sony A7s,
If more than 29 minutes I would take at least 4 in camera batteries + two battery grip or a large external one with plate and dummy battery.
One 128GB SD card + one back up.
I would also take a 4k recorder to DownRes to 1080P30 and record more than 29 minutes.
I would also need a sturdy TriPod and Video Head.
I could get by with one 28-135 Cine lens.

Even though mine has not arrived yet,
I suggest looking at the Sony A7sII.
Many improvements over the A7s and you will not need an external recorder unless you want unlimited Video length.

Perhaps consider a bridge camera, if you are beginning the DSLR basics but still want the full features without the fuss of interchangeable lenses (useful for travelling without carrying several lenses on the go!). I’d strongly recommend researching the slightly cheaper cameras so you can easily upgrade when comfortable.

My top: Panasonic Lumix FZ1000. It also has 4k video and high-speed 1080p video! I’d definitely look into it!
