I have a 3 month old computer.I have 500 gb of hard drive. I have 6 gb of ram capability with a I7 920 processor at 267 mhz from Dell(trichannel). I have a vista 64 o.s. I have a new Sony SR-12 HD camera and Sony Vegas PE 9.0b editing software. I am new in the world of editing. I have had numerous problems editing and just when it began to look like the light at the end of the tunnel I now cannot pre render for this project because I receive a message of low memory. I have tried to get rid of anything that may take ram memory( turn off startup items execpt needed services. I have set up computer visuals for performance not looks, anti-virus shut off. I look at the task manager and it reads 2.72 gb of ram being used. I am of the understanding that vegas is a 32 bit program and will only see 4gb of ram. When program is not operating I can get physical memory down to 1.22 gb.

Um, I don’t know if this will help you, but some time ago we had Vegas Pro 8.0b locking up when rendering HD, and also whenever we used large still images. Vegas Pro 9 is supposed to have been upgraded ‘under the hood’ to accept much larger files and stills.

I assume Vegas 9 PE means “Platinum Edition” (i.e., studio, not Pro)? I am wondering if it really handles HD on all machines.

Just to troubleshoot, could you download the trial version of Vegas Pro 9, and see if that will render it?

It’s just a thought…and it might be worth what you paid for it.
