*NEW* AJA Io HD v5.1 software available now
Hello,
Available today at the Support section of our website is the new version 5.1 software Io HD (with new KONA software available as well, details on the KONA Cow page).
*Important Io HD Note—Please Read*
The software version number of the Io HD release has been changed to “5.1” to better communicate its parity with the KONA software releases issued now and in the future. Both product lines have similar underlying software and many features will often be updated at the same time in the future.
*Io HD New Features*
– User can now output either DVI or HDMI protocol on the HDMI output. (Note: output from the HDMI connector requires use of an HDMI to DVI cable adapter.)
*Io HD Resolved Issues and Improvements*
– Edit to tape frame accuracy improved in all interlaced formats.
– Improved 10-bit RGB display operation in Motion and After Effects.
– Saving Io HD Control Panel presets no longer requires Administrator privileges.
– Fixed a problem that could cause the Io HD to get out of sync when switching between Final Cut and Motion.

does this mean I can now get 1 to 1 pixel mapping via DVI to a Dell or Apple (or whatever) 1920*1200 monitor?

if you own a Kona or Io Product with DVI on it
yes it will.

would be great because I can’t test it as I don’t have the monitor to connect.
But it would solve my HD monitoring problem.
Color via SD and resolution via DVI 🙂

Ok
here is the scoop.
the DVI > HDMI conforms to the SMPTE video output standard so that video being output matches the frame buffer of the IoHD.
So the actual pixel count conforms to the video playbacks frame size where 1080 is only 1080, 720 is only 720 and SD is only SD (be it PAL or NTSC)
There is NO scaling, so sending SD out the HDMI may not work on some displays, and 24p material is not always supported for direct output (this is an HDMI limitation on many displays)
