    Hi,
I currently have a 21.5 inch intel core 2 duo iMac and just bought a new 27 inch core i5. I’ve done some research and have yet to find a solution for this. I was wondering if there was a way to connect the old iMac and the new iMac so that I could use the 21.5 inch as a second display, but also access the hard drive and extra processing power. I have a thunderbolt cable but the older iMac has only a mini display port so I wouldn’t be able to transfer data through that cable (as far as I’m aware).

I’ll be using this for Premiere Pro and after effects and there’s a possibility I’ll be moving back to final cut in the future.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

    -Jake

You can network them together and share files, but you aren’t going to get them sharing displays, or tag-teaming render jobs without unnecessary complications.
