Networked rendering
Hi,
Anybody know any means to utilise the processing power of a number of Macs by networking them together through ethernet or Firewire?
I think one can do this through using an X serve + the software Xgrid – but this is way beyond my budget. Surely there is some simple software utility that one can use to assign rendering tasks to another computer on ones existing network ?Thansk in advance for any advice offered.

The applications need to support network rendering in most cases. After Effects already has a solution for this, as do some 3D applications. You might want to check with your software developer to see if they have a solution for you. It would help to tell us what application/s you’d like to use network rendering with.

I’m using Final Cut Pro + Compressor [ Apple] + Photoshop + PTMac.
