Network rendering: Vegas license implications
Hi Folks,
I’m interested in setting up a network rendering system since we have a number of fairly hi-spec machines in our studio.
I’ve been reading a lot of the links and newsletter back-chat about the problems that people have had with this, as well as the excellent book by Spotted Eagle. It sounds like a good idea if you can get it working!
The thing which doesn’t seem to get much mention is what are you all doing about buying licenses? As I understand it the Sony license allows users to install 2 copies, so how do you set up network rendering on say 3-4 machines without paying a stack for the privilege? I guess I must be missing something obvious, as usual!
On that subject, has anyone had experience with moving their Vegas license to a new machine? I put in an e-mail enquiry about this to Sony and they came back with the rather cryptic (and unhelpful) reply that the license conditions allowed me to install the software on 2 machines – which I already knew.
Thanks,
John M.
