I installed Net Render and it created it’s own folder. Seems to me Net Render should have installed into my original C4D folder. I know I need to install my pluggins and modules on my clients, but do I need to copy over all my pluggins and modules into the new server folder? I did a test render, obviously the network clients didn’t see them, but neither did my local client infd them from the original C4D folder.

The server application is just feeding the clients with the scenes and collecting the results. So the server doesn’t need the modules and plugins at all as it is not rendering or calculating anything.
What you can do is have a client and a server on the same computer, but that is another thing.

Actually, I am running a local client too. I put it in my original post, but should’ve made it more clear. The local client not seeing the modules and pluggins is what brought up the question. While the server doesn’t ‘need’ the pluggins and modules, it still seems to me that both client and server should be installed in the original C4D folder. If for no other reason than so that the client can find the pluggins and modules.

I know from trying that moving the client and server app. to the original C4D folder is a very very bad thing: I take I’ll have to install my modules and pluggins in the folder made for the local client?

Ths is what the NET reference tells about it:

    Using Plugins and Modules
In contrast to textures and shaders, plugins and modules are not automatically distributed to the clients. If a scene needs a special plugin or module you have to install this plugin or module manually on all clients. Make a new plugins or modules folder for each client in the client folder and copy the plugin or module into the appropriate folder.
