  • Need to speed up a clip w/o pitch changing its audio

Been working on an re-edit of a short film that was origninally 14min and needs to be 5min. I’ve got it to the point where I only need to shave off a little over 4 seconds to make the 5 min limit, but I can’t cut out any more material as there’s a VO going in the background and it would ruin the story anyway. So my plan is to export the whole movie, then speed it up 1.5% as this will put me just in under the limit.
So my question is, is there a way to do this in AE w/o changing the pitch of the audio? I know with audio if you just speed it up then you get a pitch change, which is unflattering. I know there are a few ways to adjust the speed of video in AE, but do any of them also make adjustments for the pitch of audio? Looked through the manual and couldn’t find anything on this.
Thanks ahead of time for any help!

not in after effects. You’ll need an audio editing program that can speed up the audio file without changing pitch. Adobe AUdition can do this.

Thanks for the help! By the way, I love your podcasts. Anyway, my substitute workflow has been to do the audio portion of the speed change in Vegas and SoundForge. I’ve been a little hestitant to rely upon that as listening to what they produce is very slightly out of step with what AE produces. Watching the clip with the Vegas/SoundForge audio the sync seems fine though as far as lips moving at the right time and all that.
