  • Need to output to something SongShow Plus can read from a Mac

I need to output a video in a format that SongShow Plus (which is a software program that churches use to project images onto a screen) can read. I have Premier Pro CS4 and am using a MacBook Pro. Here’s what SongShow says on their website about file formats:

“SongShow Plus supports the Windows Media Video, MPEG-1, and AVI video formats as the default formats supported by Microsoft Windows.”

I don’t see anything in my options that will work for this…am I missing something?

    Thanks in advance…

If you don’t see anything then yes, you’re missing a lot. 😉

Premiere Pro supports all those formats, unfortunately only on the Windows platform.

Be aware that AVI is just a wrapper format that uses codecs to compress the contents.

On your Mac you will need to export to Quicktime format and then use something like QT Pro (?) to convert to one of the supported formats.

Do several small, test projects and see what works best for you.

Thanks for the help. Is there something like a plug in that I can get that will convert them or render them out in one of those formats? BTW it just seems crazy that with such a good program like PP that it doesn’t output into those file types even though I’m on a mac.

    Thanks….

There might be, but unfortunately I don’t use a Mac, so I can’t help you on that front.

Hopefully a Mac user will jump in and help you out.

    Cheers

Quicktime Pro from Apple will get you the AVI export from Qtime player (and a lot of others that are useful), Flip4Mac will get you windows media export.
