  • need to get rid of black from logo, please help

Posted by Roli Rivelino on November 20, 2009 at 12:38 pm

I’m sure I’ve been told why this happens before, but I didn’t note it down, so sorry if anyone’s repeating themselves.

I’m importing a logo from photoshop, the logo has no background in PS, but final cut is giving it a black background, I need it to have no background so it just sits in the top corner of my video, how do I do this?

    many thanks

Is it a PSD file you’re bringing in from Photoshop? If so, be sure to just grab the layer the logo is on.

It is a PSD file, and there’s only one layer and it says there’s no background, in photoshop it looks like black letters on no background, but in final cut it gets turned to white letters on a black background.

    What’s up?

Try saving it in Photoshop as a 32 bit Targa file.

    Hi Chris,

    I don’t seem to have that option in photoshop, when I go to save as I have the following options;

    photoshop (checked)
    photoshop EPS
    JPEG
    Photoshop PDF
    Photoshop 2.0
    Photoshop Raw
    Scitex CT
    TIFF
    photoshop dcs 1.0
    photoshop dcs 2.0

which one of those would be an equivelant?

Could be your graphic is either ‘indexed’ or still in CMYK. Make sure it’s RGB before you save it out.

    Hi Evan,

You were right my graphic was in CMYK, I changed it to RGB, and saved it as a 32bit Targa file now it’s coming in with a white background instead of none.
