Ok heres the rookie mistake of the year I have been capturing tapes for the rushed final episode for this show from the panasonic aj-hd1400. Now 4 tracks of audio were recorded but i forgot to mute/deselect the 5-8 tracks in the log and capture window so i accidentally captured 25 tapes with the 4 recorded audio tracks and 4 dead/empty audio tracks (since the deck has the option to spit out 8ch total).

now the question is how do i get rid of those extra 4 audio tracks that have nothing in them so fcp sat 1V, 4A instead of 1V 8A. I need to keep the TC and I don’t have the time to recapture all those tapes. Is there a way through compressor or something that you can do a selective audio pass through or is there a 3rd party program that will do a video pass through and selective audio pass through and keep the TC ?

thank you for any help of suggestions

Oh I know that disconnecting the A5-A8 will not add those audio tracks into the timeline, but what i need is to do it on the root file/in the browser , i am AE’n on this particular job (don’t ask why) and my post-sup wants those extra tracks eliminated

You can probably delete the extra audio tracks in Quicktime Pro. This should be quicker than batch converting the clips in Compressor
