I have a project with 18 tracks, 6 of which are temp music. I need to export a QT for the composer where all the music is panned right and everything else is panned left.

I found an earlier post on this about how to change the output track assignment in the sequence settings (dual mono instead of stereo), but that works if you’re doing an output to a hardware device such as a mixer. I tried that, but when you export to Quicktime it has no effect – I still get mixed tracks.

All the music tracks are stereo, panned left/right, and everything else is stereo, panned to the center. FCP won’t let me pan two tracks of a stereo track to one side. I’ve got hundreds of individual clips. Is there an easier way to do global pans that QT export will respect?

Ther might be a simpler way but here is a suggestion:

(Make duplicate of your sequence first… )

Select all your Audio clips and disable the Stereo Pairing (Alt-L or in the Modify menu).
After that pan one of the music clips to the right and copy that. Select all your music clips and paste attributes (Alt-V) selecting pan only. This should result in all your music clips being panned to the right. Now do the same procedure (but pan left) to the other audio clips.
