    I need to do something very similar to the above youtube clip.

    I do have the shape (one tile) as a Cinema 4d object
    I need to set up a 9×11 array and then bounce them to a music clip.

    Can any one give me an idea how to do this?
    I am fairly adept at AE but have never really worked with Cinema 4D.

    So please try to be as detailed as you can.

    Put your tiles in a cloner, set the mode to Grid Array, and add a sound effector to affect position and rotation. Look for tutorials for using the sound effector like this:

    Definitely on the right track with this… thank you

    Sorry for the nube question but now how do i import this to AE?
    Sorry never worked with c4d before.

    No problem. We were all newbies at some point. I’m just a hobbyist myself.

    Assuming you are using a CC version of AE, you can import a C4D file into After Effects and by adding it to a comp it will have Cineware in the effects menu.

    Edit: use the standard “import file” command.
