This may be an easy fix but it is taking a lot longer than it should :S…I am working from an assembly edit and the original editor who sub clipped and synced the sound (Original format 16mm and telecined to uncompressed 10bit 4:2:2) cannot be contacted…!

There are three sound files per take- a mic on each actor (2) and the boom. Unfortunately, on a MCU on actor #1, they have put the mic audio of actor #2 so the sound is barely audible and i want to change it with the correct sound file.

How exactly do i change the synced audio on a subclipped file?

Any and all tips and advice much appreciated!

    Thank you!!

    x claire

Perhaps I misunderstand your question but this sounds like basic editing. You have a good video file and a good audio file, right? The problem is just that the good audio currently isn’t linked with the right shot? So, just select the good audio and drag it to an audio track beneath the MCU shot. If you have to sync it “by ear,” don’t delete the bad audio yet. Instead, play both audio tracks simultaneously so that you can use the bad sound to sync the good sound. Then delete the bad sound.

If I understood your situation correctly and this works, consider posting other questions like this on the FCP Basics forum.
