    Hello,

I have a client who wants me to capture footage in HDV 1080/60i. They want me to give them the raw footage on a hard drive. Can all editing software recognize the .m2t files? Or is there a better way to capture and save this footage so that it can be given to him? I can’t give him the mini dv tapes, as he doesn’t have a camera that will play them. I don’t have a Firestore or other similar device. Thanks in advance for your replies.

I might be missing something here but have you captured this type of footage before? If so, it would seem once you have the footage in a directory on your own computer hard drive you could just hook up an external hard drive via usb or firewire and copy the directory to the new drive.

    Have a great day.

Vegas saves the captured footage on your hard drive as .m2t files. Can someone with another editing program open this type of file? Will they work properly?

I am pretty sure Premiere works with .m2t files. Probably your best bet is to ask the client which editing program they are using and then you can go to that website and make sure that program can read them. It would be my guess if the client is asking you to save these off as raw footage that they have experience with this type of file.

    Have a great day.
