  • Need to animate a tongue, but keep the base of it relatively still

I’m in need to animate an anatomically accurate tongue doing very precise movements.
I rigged it and for the most part it worked ok but the base of it is stretching weirdly. Since I’m not an expert on rigging, I added two other joint chains besides the main one and quickly realized that not only did not solve my issue it actually broke whatever animation I had already.

I thought that painting out the weight of the selected joints in the desired areas would get me the effect I need, but the model gets all messed up; to my understanding, constraint tags won’t help either despite their misleading name.

Is there a way to do that?

    Thanks in advance,
    D.
