  • Need suggestions for building a Vegas 12 editing computer.

Posted by Jason Yip on December 20, 2012 at 10:20 pm

It is time to upgrade my editing system and am interested in building a custom PC. Main tasks will be Sony Vegas Pro 12, DVDA, Photoshop and Lightroom. I’ve got $2500-$3000 budget (but am willing to spend less). I’m hoping to get an idea of what components I definitely should get to increase render and load speeds. Any specific names and model numbers would help, since I’ve never done a custom build before.

    THANKS!

What kind of footage are you going to edit, and what kind of projects do you do? How important is Photoshop and Lightroom to your workflow?

I will be curious to hear back on the Asus P9X79 DELUXE. I am looking at that one myself. I’d like to get into a lower wattage CPU if possible (reduce heat and $$), however I am not sure how that will affect processing power even if they are rated the same. In theory it shouldn’t, but who knows.

SSD and RAID 0 combo. That’s what I am doing too! Thumbs up!
