Here’s what you need to know:

Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum Suite 12 contains:

    • Movie Studio Platinum 12
    • DVD Architect Studio 5
    • Sound Forge Audio Studio 10
    • Red Giant Magic Bullet Quick Looks
    • NewBlueFX 3D Titling and Video Effects
    • iZotope Vocal Eraser

    This has no special effects.

Movie Studio Platinum Visual Effects Suite 2 contains:

    • Movie Studio Platinum 12
    • DVD Architect Studio 5
    • HitFilm 2 Express

This has no Sound Forge Studio or the NewBlue, Magic Bullet, or iZotope plugins.

HitFilm 2 Express alone cost $149 so if you really want to do special FX, then Movie Studio Platinum Visual Effects Suite 2 is a really good deal at $120.

    Here is the comparison chart.

That is a good point! Thanks! I would like to have the audio editing but I will just look for the ACID PRO I think it is. I think I’ll get Visual Effects now and then spend the other 60 to upgrade to 12 later. Thanks for your help!

ACID Pro is for Music Composition. It’s not a precision audio editor. If you want an audio editing then get Sound Forge Studio. If you do want ACID, I would consider ACID Studio. ACID Pro hasn’t been updated in 5 years so I wouldn’t go investing it in while ACID Studio has seen updates that probably bring it pretty close to what you need.

    John:
Hey thanks. I should have stated that I work with a few musicians; so I was looking for something where I could start doing some recordings for them. But I would mainly use it for editing and polishing voice overs. I think sound forge would work as long as I can layer audio tracks which I’m sure it can because Movie Studio can. Sorry if you couldn’t tell I’m new at this and trying to take a hobby and make it a profession. Thanks for all the help you’re great!

Sound Forge cannot layer audio tracks. Sound Forge is a precision audio editor that edits one track at a time. If you are looking to record multiple tracks then you need Movie Studio or ACID Studio. Sorry if I confused you. For voice over work you would do that right in Movie Studio.
