Hey, thx in advance, on deadline here.

I’m looking for a recipe to get smoothe slo-mo from dv footage shot with Sony Cineframe effect. The issue seems to be the simulated 3:2:2:3 pulldown? I don’t have access to AfterFX. Does FCP offer tools to make the motion linear, either before or after slomo?

Any hot plug ins that work with Cineframe?I’m playing with a Nattress “G Detect Cadence”, but haven’t got a ahndle on the process.

Sony, are you listening? We want true progressive capture, not in-cam scroz!!

    Arghhh.

No, they don’t listen. No point even trying to speak to them. For slowmo, you best shoot at the highest frame or field rate possible – so 60i would be best. If you remove the pulldown from your fake 24p you’ll get better results, but you still need twixtor or something with optical flow to get a good slomo, and that’s from a super-slow render….

Apple’s Shake ( https://www.apple.com/shake/ ) will also produce excellent optical-flow based slo-mo, as well as being a generally powerful compositing and image processing tool, now reasonably priced.
