I’d like recommendations for mikes that would work well on a boom pole under less than ideal conditions. Namely: low ceilings; many reflective surfaces. I already use lavs and hand-helds but need to add perhaps Cardioids, superCardioids or hyperCardioids to our collection. Shotguns not working well at all. Looking at polar patterns it would seem that Cardioids would be best given the low ceiling. But the more directional the better. Specific models and price points with a brief pro and con description would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Craig and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.

There are three, maybe four, that’ll work for you.

    Schoeps cmc641, cmc64
    Sanken CS-3e
    Sennheiser 8050, 8040

    Oops! That’s five.

    Regards,

    Thanks.

Any pros and cons for any of these?
