Need Mac External Drive Recommendations
I need a FAST BIG external drive for my imac. I’ve been happy with Glyph drives, but am wondering if I just need another 4T Glyph or if there’s something else out there I should know about. I see recommends online for Seagate! (I hate seagate they CRASH). Don’t know which online recommends I can trust. Suggestions? Portability not important. Speed and capacity are important.

I like OWC and in the past GTECH.
Nothing USB3 or less.
And mostly RAID.

For me its the specs on the Envoy Pro.
Damn its fast for an SSD using TB4.
I think I get 2600 on an M1.

working on a very large doc project. The client has had unfortunate experiences with a OWC raid… and I’ve found OWC support lacking in the past… And had a nightmare situation with G-Tech 15 years ago which I will never forget… I asked multiple contacts in the doc community and there was a consensus recommending a hardware raid… and the client bought a promise pegasus with if I remember correctly with 8 bays and about a 65 terabyte capacity. Set up as a raid 5, there’s redundancy so if a drive is failing you can swap it out and the full raid will be rebuilt in the background.. This may be overkill for your project but they have smaller capacities with fewer bays…

I got this 80 TB beast for my doc post duties. RAID 5 for redundancy and wicked fast TB pass thru connector. 4k with no proxies, stellar playback to my M2 macbook pro.
