Need Help With Making Stereo Sound into Mono
I was wondering if anyone would be able to help with this issue I’ve been having. I recorded sound for a film that I am working on with an external microphone, however, this microphone only picks up audio in the left speaker of a stereo setup. When I capture the footage into Premier Pro, it recognizes the sound track as a stereo track and now all of the sound comes solely out of the left speaker. For obvious reasons, I would like to see if there is a way to get this left channel audio to come out of the both speakers – almost like telling Premier that the track is not a stereo track, but a mono one. Any help with this issue would be greatly, greatly appreciated and thank you in advance.

If you have items in the timeline, use the gill left effect on all clips.
If you are in a new project, select your footage in the project panel, then go the clip > audio options > Source channel mappings.
From there you can select the left channel and make it mono as stereo.

You can avoid this in the future by making a wire connection in the microphon plug between the connections for left and right.

To have Premiere break a stereo audio clip into dual mono clips: Select the audio clip in your project window, go to Clip->Audio Options->Breakout to Mono.
This splits the stereo clip into two mono clips inside your project. From there you can use whichever channel you want.
