I currently have a job that was shot by an outside shooter. They screwed up and didn’t run the lav mic into the camera for a portion of the shoot. I need to see if any of you have any input on how to clean up the audio via EQ, Compresser (plug not program), or any other audio plugs in order to get the audio of the camera mic stuff to sound a little closer to how the lav would. I don’t need a miracle, I just need to roll off a bit of the echo and room tone a bit. Any suggestions?

Sorry, but unfortunately you DO need a miracle.
A re-shoot is about all you can do as the symptoms you describe are virtually unfixable.
(Especially since SOME of the tracks you’re using are “good”.)

Consider if the shooter had not bothered to focus… and everything in a certain setup was out-of-focus compared to the rest of the scenes.
You’d either need to re-shoot, not use the scene, or decide to go with it as-is and almost certainly call attention to the problem compared to the rest of the project.

That’s pretty much where you are on the audio side, with an off-mic recording with inappropriate room reverb.

Cool, that’s what I figured. I just have to convince my creative director of that. A second opinion always is nice.

Here’s a third opinion…or fourth. Good audio is the absence of BAD audio. You have bad audio.
